35MM: A Musical Exhibition is a song cycle composed of 22 songs written by composer Ryan Scott Oliver. Each song is connected to and based on a photograph Oliver’s husband, Matthew Murphy, took in his early stages of becoming a photographer. This show transcends the conventions of what traditional musical theatre is, creating a multimedia theatrical experience that seeks to explore what life exists behind the stillness captured on camera. This production uses the framework of 35MM as a jumping-off-point for filmed content for some of the songs.
